Essential Guide to PC Case Fans: What You Need to Know?
Get to know fans
The function of the computer case fan is to transfer the heat source inside the computer case to the outside through the rotation of the fan blades to assist in heat dissipation.
The size of the fan
The common sizes are 120 mm and 140 mm, and most computer cases are compatible
Speed regulation method
DC speed regulation: It is divided into several fixed - speed gears of high, medium and low. The interface type is 3 - Pin
Heat dissipation performance
The main factors affecting the heat dissipation performance of fans: air volume and air pressure
Air Volume
The air volume refers to the volume of air passing through the fan's outlet within a unit of time, that is, how much air can be blown out in a period of time.
It is measured in CFM (cubic feet per minute). Generally, fans with 60 or 70 CFM are considered high - volume fans.
The air volume is equal to the product of the outlet area and the average wind speed.
The larger the fan size and the higher the rotation speed, the greater the air volume.
Fans with large air volumes are suitable for placement at the rear or top of the chassis.
Air Pressure
The air pressure refers to the pressure difference between the fan's outlet and inlet, that is, the distance the wind can blow.
It is measured in mmH₂O (millimeters of water column height). Generally, fans with an air pressure greater than 2 mmH₂O are considered high - pressure fans.
Fans with high air pressure have strong wind and are more suitable for placement on the front panel of the chassis.
